Mission Statement:

Young Crew (YC) is a group operating under the Project Management Association Finland. Every young and youthful project professional or person interested in project business can join the YC activities. The group activities are open for everyone who may be interested. Officially, all the Project Management Association members can join the YC group.

Purpose of Our Activities:

• To support and develop the expertise of young project professionals.
• To promote dialogue between the academic research world and business world, and the sharing of information and knowledge
• To promote the networking amongst the young project professionals both on the national and international level.

Modes of Operation:

• Theme evenings and company visits, of which content is determined according to the objective. An objective could be deeper development of project knowledge and self-challenge. In this example case, the theme evening could consist of a playful case competition, a high-level expertise lecture, or a presentation or a discussion forum that supports and coaches towards certification. Another objective could be student networking. In that case, the evening could include company presentations and interaction between students and companies.
• Joint publications, such as conference papers or other publications.
• Supporting material for the young people (e.g. a proposal to their manager considering joining the Project Management Association or the Project Days event).
• Conference visits: providing information about current conferences and training events, and organizing participation in the events whenever possible.

Operations Support and Guidance

Project Management Association supports the YC activities financially. Since the beginning of 2010, there has also been a YC representative in the Project Management Association board. In 2011, our representative is Miikka Lötjönen (Nice-business solutions).

YC activities are managed by an executive group (board, steering group) that consists of 8 active members. Each of them have their own resbonsabilities:

YC cooperates with the IPMA Young Crew network. Samuli represent Finland in its Management Board and conveys the news from the world to us.
