'The Future of Contracting and Impacts on Projects'.

Tim Cummins, CEO of IACCM, will present key findings from IACCM's current worldwide research on 'contracting in 2020'. The session will explore key areas that include 'the management of uncertainty', dealing with change, considerations of divergent cultures, values and traditions, the impacts of new technologies and the need to establish more integrated Project Management and Commercial Management to secure successful outcomes.

'Managing the challenges of open innovation and dynamic business models'.

In this interactive session, Jarkko Pellikka of Honeywell Process Solutions will explore the demands for greater innovation and agility and discuss in particular the implications for contracts and commercial management, which can act either to constrain or to enable success. The session will focus on work and findings within process-based industry, but encourages input and experience from elsewhere.

’Relational contracting as a tool for better project outcomes’.

Explicit from the research activities outlined in the previous presentations is the need to change our views of contracts from being largely legal instruments to thinking about their economic and governance role. In this final session Tim Cummins will lead discussion on how to change the focus and discipline of negotiation and consider ways to ensure greater honesty in the bidding and execution process. This will include insight to the ways large international companies and Governments are addressing these needs and will offer the chance for open discussion on ways that project management and contract management can work more effectively together.
